Sine-wave clusters in Csound, .csd included — from a compilation where every sound is a sine wave

Posting on behalf of hitobito label (Japan), not as the author. We just released a compilation with one rule: every sound must be made from sine waves. One of the nine tracks, “Sigma -SIne” by Tetsuya Miwa, is sine-wave clusters generated in Csound, and the author submitted the .csd along with the track, so it ships with the album as a bonus file. (Bandcamp does not accept the .csd extension, so it is uploaded as a .txt; rename it to .csd to run.)

The rest of the album was made with Pure Data, Renoise, SuperCollider, a hand-played sampler and more, so it doubles as a small survey of how different tools answer the same constraint. Name your price (0 is fine), Creative Commons.

Thanks for sharing. Nice concept, just listening now to Tetsuya Miwa’s piece. It’s very nice. Definitely one I will share with my students

Thank you, glad you’re enjoying it! I’ll pass this on to Tetsuya Miwa.

For your students: the full source is in the album’s bonus files as Sigma-Sine.txt (rename it to .csd to run). It’s only about 2 KB, so it should be easy to read through.

Nice, just looking over the source now. It’s very elegant.

Hi Rory,
Thank you for liking my work! I’m not sure if this code is truly elegant, but since it’s simple and versatile, I think it serves as a good sample for your students
