Hi Jan,
   once again no issue here, works fine for me both audibly and when rendered, as you can see in the image of the rendered output (this time I double checked to make sure it is "shared") :

It would appear the issue may be related to either the Csound version or OS. But if + works then just use that for now and perhaps open a ticket on github to report the problem if you have not already done so (see link below).

Dear Scott,
yes, there really is no difference at your place. Which Csound version and operating system are you on?
Unfortunately I can not just switch to using '+" as my coded environment I am working with has about 6k lines of code with “sum” distribited at various places.
