Re: [Csnd] gtihub copilot in vscode writing Csound

Julius Smith at CCRMA posts on Facebook about using Claude.
He likes it. Emoji

Wonder if Claude would be helpful solving a couple of things I’ve been
trying to deal with regarding FFT and O-Scope displaying. Emojihmmm,…

Hi Oeyvind!

Thanks for the report! Which model did you use? (I wonder if Claude is better than Gemini or ChatGPT in that regard).

Hi,
You may know about this already, but copilot in vscode now writes sensible Csound code. It will even make the Cabbage GUI. Whoa! This speeds up instrument development quite a bit. It even makes sensible dsp suggestions. Just sitting here laughing and drinking coffee while new instruments unfolds in front of my eyes.

Ja. Very much so.

Yes, his posts have been contributing to my curiosity in checking this out.
Also, it seems the models have gotten a lot better over the last few months, so now it mostly “just works”.
I still think it helps a lot with a good knowledge of how I would do it by hand, as otherwise I don’t know how I would be able to guide the model to do it.
So, my conclusion as to how this changes what we need to teach our students is very little. They still will need to learn the dsp and the program logic
