While the code may not be that elegant, you might try my MVerb or MVerb3D. These are physical models using waveguide meshes (MVerb is a 5x5 mesh while MVerb 3D is a 4x4x3 mesh). Rather than providing room dimensions one tunes the waveguides by providing resonant frequencies as well as control other aspects (reflection coefficients, filtering, and an overall size coefficient applied to all of the delays). I have found that I can get a great variety of room sounds as well as some interesting experimental “reverbs.” It also may not be the most efficient effect, but I do like the sonic results. @Jon Thanks for sharing these. I do remember that I have come across them before. I don't think that MVerb might fit my current use-case, but the reverb looks interesting enough. From what I've seen, I'll have to do a bit of recoding though, due to a different scenario, i.e. no Cabbage. Still: never look a gift reverb in the early reflections!
