As many of you know, this is the first International Csound Conference without Barry Vercoe, the father of Csound, and his trusted friend and colleague, John ffitch, a major contributor, developer, and maintainer of Csound. Barry passed last year, and John passed this year.
The organizers of this year’s International Csound Conference invited me to make a commemorative film to open the first of three concerts in Trapani, Sicily.
This beautiful film begins with Barry discussing his collaborative work on the Synthetic Performer with flutist Larry Beauragard at IRCAM, a player whose passing during their work led Barry to develop Csound as a way to remember and honor him. And so, I provided some photos, but this film and the closing visualization of John ffitch’s final Csound composition, “Dread,” were all done by an amazing Berklee and Stanford alum, Ningxin Zhang.
Ningxin premiered her Pipa and Csound composition at the ICSC in Shannon four years ago.
The film is entitled: Floating on Their C of Sound - Remembering Barry and John.
I hope that this film might find a home at csound.com, but until then, I share a Dropbox link with you here:
thanks for sharing here --- i missed the first part in the concert.
i think it is a great idea to include it in csound.com.
perhaps most easy when you upload to youtube or whatever you prefer, and we embed it as we did with menno's clips at People — Csound
