I was looking at the Csound conference page and was thinking it might
be interesting to propose doing a Developer workshop. The idea would
be to discuss development and walk through getting everything setup
for development, building, code repository walkthrough, discuss
aspects of architecture, do some exercises debugging code (could
create a branch of csound that has bugs to diagnose and fix), etc.
Could maybe go through some workflows getting setup to dev with VS
Code, XCode, and Visual Studio, as well as go through some different
platform builds (Web, Android, iOS).
Thought I'd run the idea here to gauge community interest before
making a proposal. I was thinking it might be one of the best
opportunities for us to go through it together and for us to share
knowledge. (Might also help to kick off better documentation of the
system?)
please encourage the Conference organizers to NOT schedule a conflicting-competing workshop
at the same time as this.
It would be cool, valuable, good for ALL Csounders to attend such a workshop (coder or not) with their laptops and have you take us on this journey together.
This is a brilliant idea, Steven!
As it is so important for possible new collaborations in devlopment, I suggest there could be a session in 2 or even 3 days - getting really hands on takes some time but I believe it is totally worth it.

I will be there in the front row!

Yes, I think this is a good idea. We are bound to run into places where the core developers assume that other developers know things, that they do not know.
I fully support the idea of such a workshop and also the focus such a workshop should get in the program. So please add these requirements to an eventual proposal and we’ll do our best to find the appropriate time slot(s).
that's a wonderful idea, steven.
yours and hlodver's workshop in athlone was a highlight of the previous conference, too.
we should try to document this workshop as good as possible in video so that it can be put on youtube and available for all who are interested in getting into csound development.
looking forward to it (applying for a seat in the second row=) -
joachim
Sorry I’m late to the party, but I absolutely support this idea! And echo Joachim’s words on the web Csound workshop being the highlight of the last conference. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve visited those notes since
