To send a signal to and from csound and futher software Jack was recommended. Unfortunately the software on the other end (Ableton latest release mac ) doesn’t recognise Jack. Do any of you have experience with BlackHole? That is to receive a signal through some kind of virtual audio device/aggregate mixer (Portaudio, Soundflower wtev.) and to send it to another piece of software using the same? I see there is opcode specifically for Jack but otherwise none. Would appreciate a caveman proof explanation. I am using a Presonus audiobox usb with a pair of monitors. I have a midi keyboard hooked up to it. So the aim is to be able to exchange signals between csound and ableton/any other piece of audio software, but also to be able to hear it. I figure one piece of software has to be the final destination to output the signal. Up till now I have managed to get a signal to Ableton, I see the levels change when I play stuff out of cSound but I can’t get anything out of my speakers. thanks
Is there a reason why you don’t simply run Csound from within Ableton as a plugin, then you don’t need to worry about routing?
I didn’t know you could. I thought you had to write an instrument to vst format, then put it to DAW. Do they have a section on what you’re talking about in the floss manual?
Yeh that’s it. Export your instrument as a plugin in Cabbage and then use Csound directly in the DAW.
Right I’ll give it a shot.
